Let’s Stay Calm, Stay Positive, and STAY HOME!


HEALTH DEPARTMENT STATUS
  • As of this advisory, there are 2,357 positive cases of COVID-19 and 131 deaths in Oklahoma. There are now 57 positive cases in Comanche County. Please follow CDC guidelines and the Governor’s executive order. 
  • The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) continues to support guidelines from the CDC related to social distancing and personal hygiene. OSDH encourages Oklahomans to stay home, reduce person-to-person contact, wash hands frequently, and avoid touching your face. If you develop symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath or cough, please contact your medical professional or call the COVID-19 call center at 877-215-8336 or 211 for assistance.

WITH CURVE FLATTENING, CONTINUED SOCIAL DISTANCING URGED

  • Health officials are encouraging continued SOCIAL DISTANCING to keep confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths under projections.
  • Officials said revised modeling shows Oklahoma’s peak will be less severe and not exceed hospital capacity IF social distancing continues.
    • The latest model projects PEAK hospital demand will occur April 30 and require 882 hospital beds, 218 ICU beds and 192 ventilators. Oklahoma hospitals currently have 5,887 total beds, 991 ICU beds and 1,111 total ventilators available for COVID-19 patients.
 
STATE PREPARING REOPENING PLANS
  • Governor Stitt announced he will soon be introducing plans to SAFELY phase back in businesses that have been closed under his business closure executive order that continues to run through April 30.
 
SAFER AT HOME EXTENDED, ELECTIVE SURGERIES TO RESUME SOONER
  • Governor Stitt EXTENDED his statewide “Safer at Home” order through May 6 for adults over the age of 65 and vulnerable individuals with serious underlying medical conditions.
  • Due to sufficient hospital capacity, the governor will allow ELECTIVE SURGERIES to resume April 24, earlier than initially ordered.
 
DAILY STATISTICAL SNAPSHOT
  • RECOVERIES were up by 85, putting total recoveries at 1,240. DEATHS were up by 15, putting total deaths at 123.
  • There have been 30,795 TESTS reported, with 2,263 CONFIRMED cases after 79 new cases yesterday.
  • There are 900 ACTIVE cases and 163 people HOSPITALIZED, with 99 of them in ICU, leaving 46% of the state’s current ICU beds available. There have been 510 hospitalizations over the course of the pandemic.
