Diversifying Oklahoma’s economy will require investing in renewable energy sources. Oklahoma is currently 46th in the nation for solar energy production, but we are 6th in terms of potential for solar energy production. Through this interim study, I would like to explore what policies we can implement to improve our ranking with respect to solar energy. Additionally, I want to compare and contrast our policies for solar energy with our policies for wind energy, since we are second in the nation for wind energy production. I want to bring in stakeholders and discuss how we can move forward with an all-of-the-above energy strategy.
If we want to position ourselves as competitive state in the 21st century, then we must address our unacceptable ranking as number one in the world for incarceration. While we have made tremendous progress during the past couple of years with reforms, we still have much to do moving forward. By collaborating with the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy, this interim study will review various criminal justice reforms and the impact with children and family members who are incarcerated.
